Cover Story 1 Amid successive appearance of new technologies such as NAP and new redundancy mechanism, LANs for enterprises will change in this way in 2008
In 2008, LANs for enterprises have a large selection of products in each area, such as cheap and sophisticated LAN switches, wireless LANs with rates of faster than 100 Mbit/sec, high-speed power line communication (PLC) and coaxial cable LANs. An environment, in which companies can introduce a system that has been out of their reach in the past, will be set in place. They no longer need to have a hard time in selecting from the limited choices of LAN products.

Cover Story 2 Next-generation Ethernet or 100 Gigabit Ethernet will save traffic explosion by enhancing Internet backbones Amid an explosive increase of traffic on the Internet, the Ethernet used as a component in the backbones of the Internet is posing a bottleneck. The current specifications, which define an Ethernet with a transmission speed of 10 Gigabits per second, are totally inadequate for the situation. It is the "100 Gigabit Ethernet" that will break through this critical situation
