Read a scenario of “perfect victory” of their fixed
telephony service that NTT envisions behind soaring interconnection
fees and competition against the direct-subscription type of fixed
telephony services and IP telephony services
Something unusual is happening in the fixed telephony market. Only
NTT Communications is substantially increasing the number of “My
Line” contracts. Driven from the fixed telephony market, competitors
are increasingly shifting their focus onto the direct-subscription
type of fixed telephony services and/or IP telephony services.
In
the very market, however, NTT East and NTT West, which have just
completed a full lineup of their optical IP telephony services,
are about to launch a full-scale offensive.
NTT Communications outdistances the rest of the carriers in the
number of My Line contracts
Soaring interconnection fees: Rising for three consecutive years;
a new tariff system to be introduced in FY2005
Systematic deficiency in interconnection fees will bring the subscription
telephony business to an end
