Cover every corner of large cities: Surface expansion of wireless LAN starts
on a world scale Public wireless LAN services that cover a city or a specific area
on a surface basis are appearing all over the world. Quite
a few doubts, however, are voiced about them: “Are there
any needs?” or “Are they robust enough to be practical?”
This
article explores the degree of practicality of wireless LAN services
that are undergoing surface expansion, using a service within the
sphere of the Yamanote Loop Line to be offered by livedoor and
a project under way by Taipei City in Taiwan as examples. Service
