FPD International 2003 Held on the Largest Scale Ever

Tokyo -- November 19, 2003 -- FPD International, held from October 29 to 31 at Yokohama, saw its number of visitors surge 120% from the previous year, totaling to 55,257. The event was renamed from LCD/PDP International to "FPD International" as of this year. Since its inception back in 1994, the event has been growing steadily both in the number of exhibitors and visitors. At FPD International 2003, a total of 243 exhibitors showcased their leading-edge LCD's, PDP's and OEL/OLED's in a total of 531 booths.

Newsworthy products including the world's largest LCD/PDP panels, high-definition small-to-medium sized displays assembled at the venue, of which the visitors devoured with their eyes. The fervor of the venue was broadcasted in Japan's major TV news programs, maximizing the event's exposure. A Technical Session Plaza was located within the venue, where exhibitors capitalized on the event's high-profile opportunity to make presentations of their latest technology and product information, some of which attracted over 500 attendees. Concurrently with the seminar, NIKKEI MICRODEVICES and NIKKEI ELECTRONICS jointly held "FPD International Seminar 2003." The seminar featured industry savvy personnel and gurus from around the globe to make keynote speeches (Details can be obtained at: http://expo.nikkeibp.co.jp/fpd/english/semi.html). The seminar venue was overbrimming with enthusiastic attendees, exceeding the seating capacity of 1,000. Flash reports on the event were extensively covered by Nikkei BP's vertical publications including NIKKEI MICRODEVICES and NIKKEI ELECTRONICS.
