NikkeiBP Announces New Launch and Renewals for 2004

Tokyo -- January 28, 2004 -- Nikkei Business Publications, Inc. has announced plans of its new launch and renewals for 2004. Four magazines will see their launch between April and July 2004: "NIKKEI MONOZUKURI," "NIKKEI AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY," "NIKKEI BIZTECH" and "NIKKEI CHARACTERS!" Two online sites and one magazine will be renamed: BizTech as "nikkeibp.jp for Technology and Business," WPC ARENA as "DIGITAL ARENA" and NIKKEI BEST PC as "NIKKEI BEST PC + DIGITAL ELECTRONICS."

NIKKEI MONOZUKURI
By combining the resources of NIKKEI MECHANICAL and NIKKEI DIGITAL ENGINEERING, NIKKEI MONOZUKURI will premiere in April to provide front-line engineers and project development leaders in the manufacturing industry with practical information indispensable for their problem solving and technology innovation. In hopes of sustaining Japan's come back in the manufacturing industry, NIKKEI MONOZOKURI will center its coverage on the four ideas of spurring innovation, streamlining operational processes, strengthening engineer's self-competitiveness and enhancing alliance with manufacturing partners in China and other parts of Asia.

Aside from its coverage written from the three key perspectives of environment, safety and electronics, the magazine will deliver information that may spur the development of the future technology, industry trends and self-edifying information for engineers. Together with its companion website "AutoBiz," which broadcasts daily technology and management information on automobile industry, NIKKEI AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY will aim at delivering swift yet in-depth information to the audience.

NIKKEI BIZTECH will be a management of technology magazine for management executives, operating officers and the next-generation leaders at companies that market technology as their business. The magazine will make analyses of how to create value, company's growth and competitiveness with a foundation on technology. Coverage will also include untold stories behind the development of hot-selling products, the latest trends of market and technology, detailed reports on incidents related to intellectual property rights. In addition to Nikkei BP's tech-savvy staff writers, professionals of management of technology both inside and outside of Japan will contribute their articles to NIKKEI BIZTECH.

Its diversified coverage will be designed to suffice the needs of a broad audience -- from an ordinary admirer of animation & games to a professional in the industry.

MONOCLE (Tentative title)
Through substantive and enjoyable editorial, MONOCLE will widely cover products of new technology that would make lives of the readers more comfortable. While being a highly visual magazine, MONOCLE will provide smart tips on how to use particular products, introduce product features from eye-opening perspectives as well as presenting in-depth information in a simple and articulate manner.

nikkeibp.jp for Technology & Business
Nikkei BP's flagship online news site BizTech will make a fresh start as "nikkeibp.jp for Technology & Business" in a bid to strengthen its position as a comprehensive informational source of business. The revamp reflects the move to outgrow from an online news site and to make a step further to deliver comprehensive business information as well as being a showcase of NikkeiBP's contents. nikkeibp.jp for Technology & Business will also aim at becoming an interactive platform where users can exchange their opinions online.

WPC ARENA that is both an official website of NikkeiBP's flagship event WPC EXPO and an online comprehensive informational site for PC and digital equipment will be renamed as "DIGITAL ARENA." In addition to featuring news, features and product reviews of PCs and digital equipment, DIGITAL ARENA will expand its coverage on hot digital products and technology including HDD/DVD recorders and over the air digital broadcasting.

NIKKEI BEST PC + DIGITAL ELECTRONICS
NIKKEI BEST PC+DIGITAL ELECTRONICS will be a new name given to the current NIKKEI BEST PC. The coverage that used to serve as a purchasing guide to PCs will also include digital consumer electronics in its spectrum. How-to evaluate, select and buy information on exciting PCs and digital electronics will be presented in a simple and easy-to-understand approach.
