Nikkei BP Names Seiichi Oteru President and COO

Tokyo--February 4, 2005-- Nikkei Business Publications, Inc. announced today the appointment of Seiichi Oteru to the position of President and Chief Operating Officer. Official authorization of this change in the management team will be made at the Board of Directors Meeting on March 29 to take place right after the Shareholders Meeting.

Oteru graduated from Tokyo University in 1964 with a bachelor's degree in law and joined Nihon Keizai Shimbun the same year. After serving his role as Senior Managing Director of Nihon Keizai Shimbun in 2000, Oteru joined Nikkei BP in 2002 to assume his position as Executive Vice President. Yukoh Kawamura, the current President & CEO, will become Chairman and continue his position as CEOand the current Chiarman Hisao Yoshimura will become Senior Advisor also as of March 29.
