ITpro Achieves 16.55 Million PV and 2.63 Million UU, Far beyond the Initial Goals

Tokyo – November 6, 2006 – Nikkei Business Publications (President & CEO: Seiichi Oteru; Tokyo) has announced that its IT portal site "ITpro"achieved 16.55 million PV/m and 2.63 UU/m in October, hitting new record highs (counted by the SiteCensus analytics).

These figures were not only achieved ahead of schedule but also far beyond the goals set initially in the release of relaunch of ITpro in last January, "15 million PV and 2 million UU for 2007".  They almost doubled on the year-on-year basis, too (8.33 million PV, 1.36 million UU; as of October 2005).

What drove this astonishing leap are substantial redesigning of the entire site in March, improvement in usability including a new social bookmark service in collaboration with Hatena Co., Ltd., "Hatena Bookmark"in July, and enhanced promptness in providing news by reinforcing cooperation with such print vehicles as Nikkei Computer and Nikkei Communications.

In addition, a newly opened specialized site "ITpro Development(http://itpro.nikkeibp.co.jp/development/)"for software engineers and redesigned "Strategic Web Design (previously known as "Web Design Club")"for corporate website designers and administrators, started on October 10 and 23, respectively, contributed to the increased access in October.  Timely features on hot issues such as mobile number portability also resulted in drawing new users to the ITpro site.

Starting on November 6, ITpro further enhanced two types of content.  First, in cooperation with CNET Networks Japan K. K., it offers overseas news provided by CNET (http://japan.zdnet.com/).  Second, it enriches and expands its basic technological analyses titled "100 Essential Courses for IT Engineers"  We are planning to line up a total of 100 courses by around March 2007, each on a topic indispensable to IT engineers.

Other new services and functions are also underway to make the site more usable and convenient for users.  They are to come around March 2007.
