International Symposium on Energy and Sustainable Development: Bridging Problems and Solutions to Work towards Sustainable Future

Tokyo – September 30, 2007 – Nikkei Business Publications Inc. (President & CEO: Seiichi Oteru; Tokyo), a leading business publication company in Japan, announced that Akira Amari, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan and John Hutton, Secretary of State for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform of the UK would speak at its seminar “International Symposium on Energy and Sustainable Development,” to be held on November 6, 2007.  In addition to the two, there will be a variety of presentations by prominent speakers worldwide who are actively involved in solving global warming issues.  The symposium will be held at the International Convention Center PAMIR, Grand Prince Hotel New Takanawa.

The symposium will discuss the practical strategies for bridging problems and solutions to work towards sustainable future from the business and political perspectives, envisioning the coming Toyako Summit scheduled in 2008.  Dr. R. K. Pachauri will deliver the opening message by video.  Mr. Amari will discuss the new international scheme to effectively reduce the green house gasses, and Mr. Hutton will speak about the UK’s unique approach to the global warming problem.
