Nikkei BP Starts "Building Material / Facility Guide" Site - Architects and Housing Professionals Evaluate Products

Tokyo – October 1, 2007 – Nikkei Business Publications (President & CEO: Seiichi Oteru; Tokyo) started on October 1 a website named <Building Material / Facility Guide> (http://kenzai.nikkeibp.co.jp/) to provide useful information for selecting materials and facilities for construction and housing.

<Building Material / Facility Guide> is created to meet such needs as wanting to "check out product features that catalogues alone cannot tell" and "find out trends and the real evaluations by professionals."

Co-edited by Nikkei Architecture, a specialized architecture magazine, and Nikkei Home Builder, a practical information magazine for homebuilding engineers, and working with another Nikkei BP site specializing in construction and real estate <KEN-Platz>, the website aims to become a community site for professionals of building materials and facilities.

The website will have a whole variety of products ranging from exterior materials and insulation materials to doorknobs lined up for evaluation. Experts on construction and housing selected by the editorial team will post their evaluations on each product along with their “tips on selecting a product.” By sharing evaluations on products, which have not been easily obtainable before, among architects and foremen and communicating their professional opinions to the manufacturers, we hope that the website will contribute to improving the quality of building materials and facilities.

The website offers many other useful information, too, including a section of listing / searching innovative new products and rare items on which it is difficult to obtain information, as well as articles covering the latest trends in products and points on selecting building materials and facilities.
