Nikkei Electronics Launches "Nikkei Electronics Component Awards" in 2008

Tokyo – October 2, 2007 – Nikkei Electronics, a biweekly magazine published by Nikkei Business Publications (President & CEO: Seiichi Oteru; Tokyo), will launch "Nikkei Electronics Component Awards" in 2008, to honor general-purpose electronic components in Japan and overseas that stand out technologically and have had an impact on the market. The first-year winners will be announced in September 2008, selected from the general-purpose electronic parts for consumer electronics going on sale between April 1, 2007 and March 31, 2008.

"Nikkei Electronics Component Awards" aims to cast a spotlight on domestic and overseas electronic parts technologies and manufacturers that play an important role of supporting electronics technologies but do not usually come up on the center stage. We hope that the awarding will contribute to the development of the electronics industry.

For the purpose of identifying electronic components that are highly appreciated by engineers of world-class Japanese electronic manufacturers, we are considering having leading Japanese engineers with information gathering ability join the referees, in addition to the editorial department of Nikkei Electronics.

More details of the award, including which products to be reviewed, the selection / categorization methods, and the process of reviewing, will be announced later during the year.
