Nikkei BP Personnel Changes - Vice President Hirata Accedes to Presidency; President Oteru Becomes Chairman

Tokyo - February 21, 2008 - Nikkei Business Publications (President & CEO: Seiichi Oteru; Tokyo) made on February 20 unofficial decisions on personnel changes.  President and CEO Seiichi Oteru will become chairman while Executive Vice President Yasuo Hirata will succeed to the presidency.  Yukoh Kawamura will retire from the position of chairman.  The personnel reshuffles are expected to be officially approved by the general shareholders’ meeting on March 27 and the subsequent board meeting.

 

Yasuo Hirata – Biography

Born in 1945 in Saga Prefecture, he entered Nikkei Shimbun in 1969 upon graduation from Waseda University.  After holding prominent positions in the Tokyo and Osaka Headquarters, he joined Nikkei BP in 2007 as Executive Vice President.

Chairman Yukoh Kawamura will become Special Advisor upon retirement, and Managing Director Koichiro Sakai will move to Nikkei Shimbun to take up the post of Operating Officer.  Auditor Kiyoshi Mamizu and Auditor Yoichi Yazawa will retire from the post.
