Nikkei BP Chairman to present at FIPP Seoul 2002

Tokyo -- April 1, 2002 -- Nikkei Business Publications has announced that Hisao Yoshimura, Chairman of the Board, is scheduled to present at FIPP Asia-Pacific Magazine Media Regional Conference 2002 in Seoul (FIPP Seoul 2002). At 2:00PM on Wednesday, April 17, Mr. Yoshimura will discuss Nikkei BP's magazine branding strategy in a session featuring three other speakers.

This session, entitled "The Strength of Magazine Brands: Protecting and Positioning Your Brand," will be chaired by Mr. George J. Green, President of Hearst Magazines International (USA). Speakers other than Mr. Yoshimura will be Mr. He Cheng Wei, Vice President of China Periodicals Association (China), Ms. Laurence Hembert-Wermus, Executive Director-International Editions of Marie Claire International (France), and Mr. Michael A. Brennan, President of Latin America and Asia-Pacific at Reader's Digest Association (USA).

Mr. Yoshimura's presentation will be focused on how Nikkei BP manages its brands, which differs considerably from the other publishers in Japan. Whereas the other publishers would often work on building individual magazine brands, Nikkei BP, under its mission of providing must-know information for business and technology professionals, has been striving to increase the company brand power. The purpose of his presentation will be to introduce what Nikkei BP does to increase and retain loyalty among its subscribers and advertisers.

FIPP Seoul 2002, to be co-hosted by the International Federation of the Periodical Press (FIPP) and the Korea Magazine Association (KMA), will be the first regional magazine conference to be held in the Asia-Pacific region. Scheduled from April 16 to 18, 2002, the conference will focus on the opportunities and challenges of publishing in the rapidly developing Asian magazine markets. More information on this event is available at www.fippseoul.or.kr/
