NikkeiBP EcoManagement Forum Holds a Symposium

Tokyo -- July 9, 2002 -- On June 21, NikkeiBP EcoManagement Forum, a membership organization aimed at contributing to the continuing development of environment-conscious management, held in Tokyo a symposium entitled "Corporate Management with An Aim to Coexist with The Global Environment."

The symposium presented two speeches: "The Century of Environment and IT" by Mr. Yoshio Tsukio, professor at the University of Tokyo and Vice-Minister for Policy Coordination at the Ministry of Public Management, Home Affairs, Posts and Telecommunications, and "Management in Harmony with Earth and Local Society," by Mr. Nobuo Hashizume, Director General Administrative Manager of Global Environmental Policy Office at Seiko Epson Corporation. Following the speeches was a panel discussion entitled "Examining the Coexistence of Companies, Environment and Local Society."

A total of 518 people attended the symposium to the maximum seating capacity of 500. One of the reasons for attaining such high attendance was due to an extensive promotion made to the subscribers of NIKKEI ECOLOGY, NIKKEI BUSINESS, NIKKEI ARCHITECTURE, NIKKEI CONSTRUCTION and NIKKEI MECHANICAL. The high attendance rate shows that companies are increasing their awareness of environmental-related topics. NikkeiBP EcoManagement Forum will further strive to support environment-conscious management.
