Japanese industry; and people who put their efforts to revitalizing

Berlin Film Festival's Golden Bear Award-winner "Spirited Away (Sen
To Chihiro No Kamikakushi)." Spirited Away had the record-breaking
box office of 30 billion yen, drawing 23.4 million audiences. Suzuki
was awarded the Grand Prize not only for creating high quality
animation, but also for introducing a tie-up method with sponsoring
companies at the stage of animation production process. This new
process gave animators the opportunity to create magnificent
animations by receiving abundant production fee beforehand in
exchange for extending media rights to sponsoring companies. This
approach has led to the upgrading of animators' working environment
standard, for instance, establishing studios for the animators anew
for devoting themselves in animation production.
The
Excellence Award went to Assistant Professor Morishita of Osaka
University Medical School for pioneering a therapeutic technique in
which HGF was used -- a discovery of Osaka University Professor
Toshikazu Nakamura -- to create new blood vessels. Morishita

products for dementia and Parkinson's disease. Aside from being an

is to submit an application for a clinical trial in the U.S. by end
