LCD/PDP International 2002 Ends in Success
Tokyo -- November 19, 2002 -- LCD/PDP International 2002, held from October
30 to November 1 at Yokohama, has closed in success, drawing a total of 46,004
visitors. This number exceeded the last year's total of 41,025. The scale of
the show has been growing steadily since its inception in 1994, and this year, the
show attracted 209 exhibitors in 458 booths. The number of overseas exhibitors
from Taiwan, Korea, the U.S., U.K., Austria, France and Germany, saw an
increase from last year's 29 to 36. The hike in the number of overseas
exhibitors was mainly attributable to the rise in the number of exhibitors from
Taiwan, seeing a boost from last year's 9 to 17.
LCD/PDP International 2002, held under the theme of "FPD Making Rapid
Progress to Create New Applications," showcased LCD panels, plasma display
panels, organic EL panels, other display panels, manufacturing equipments,
inspection equipments, parts and materials. One of the highlights of the show
was the unveiling of the world's largest 46-inch LCD panel by Korea's Samsung
Electronics, making the show a newsworthy source of information.
Concurrently held were 44 specialized seminars, attracting a total of 4,845
attendees. Three keynote speeches were held during the three-day period each
filling the seating capacity to its maximum.
LCD/PDP International will change its name to "FPD International" from year
2003 in order to become befitted than ever to introduce an array of panels. FPD
International will assume the same event concept as LCD/PDP International.
Next year, the show will be held from October 29 to 31 at Yokohama.
