Nikkei Electronics Delivers the Largest Circulation Among Japanese Electronics Media (Japan ABC Report)

Tokyo -- June 3, 2003 -- Nikkei Electronics, the magazine for electronics designers and managers, has outperformed its competing magazines to become indeed the number one electronics magazine in Japan. According to the most recent report issued by Japan Audit Bureau of Circulations (Japan ABC), Nikkei Electronics delivered the largest circulation among electronics media brands, with a total of 40,314 paid circulation in the audited year 2002.

Year 2002 was a tough year for Japanese magazine publishers, and the magazine's strongest competitor, "Transistor Gijyutsu (Transistor Technology)" showed significant fall-off in circulation compared with its 2001 numbers. Nikkei Electronics was no exception in being hit by the teetering economy, but made strenuous efforts in keeping the downward trend at bay to become the best-selling magazine in its field.

Naoki Asami, the Editor-in-Chief of the Nikkei Electronics magazine says, "We're extremely happy that we've become indeed the market leader. Together with NE ONLINE (http://ne.nikkeibp.co.jp/), our 24/7 news site, Nikkei Electronics has become the first source subscribers turn to for the latest electronics information. We were able to achieve this No. 1 position as a result of consolidating the efforts of our editorial, advertisement and circulation sales teams in pursuing outstanding quality contents and satisfying our subscribers."

Since its launch back in 1971, Nikkei Electronics has been serving the electronics industry for over 30 years with expanded coverage on the electronics industry. Its high quality editorial also lends credibility to its advertisers. In fact, Nikkei Electronics has the number one advertising market share among the Japanese electronics media - of the five largest Japanese chipmakers' ad budget, the magazine grabbed a whopping 89.8% share and of the four outside Japan 69.3% for the April 2002 - March 2003 period. A 4C1P ad in Nikkei Electronics is available at 1.056 million yen.

Vowing to stick to its mission of delivering the latest electronics and business information, Nikkei Electronics continues unchallenged in its organic and sustained growth. Nikkei Electronics has international editions as a controlled circulation in English, Korean and Complex Chinese under the brand "Nikkei Electronics Asia." September 2002 saw the launch of a Simplified Chinese edition, "Nikkei Electronics China."
