NIKKEI BP GOVERNMENT TECHNOLOGY to Debut in September
Tokyo -- July 9, 2003 -- Nikkei Business Publications, Inc. has announced that it will launch
a quarterly magazine entitled "NIKKEI BP GOVERNMENT TECHNOLOGY" on September 29, 2003.
The quarterly will focus on providing information on e-government services. With the publication
of NIKKEI BP GOVERNMENT TECHNOLOGY, Nikkei BP aims to serve the increasing needs arising out of
local governments for information enlightening on how to promote IT in their administrative services,
following the e-Japan strategy outlined by the Japanese government. The magazine will have a controlled
circulation targeted at 5,000 decision makers involved in planning, developing, constructing and operating
administrative services at local, municipal and central governments.
Editorially, NIKKEI BP GOVERNMENT TECHNOLOGY will provide solutions-oriented content to help subscribers
address problems related to planning, constructing and operating e-government services. The magazine will
have a companion website by the name of "eGovernment (http://premium.nikkeibp.co.jp/e-gov/ in Japanese only)"
and an e-mail news service (http://bizmail.nikkeibp.co.jp/e-gov/ ) to be featured as part of Nikkei BP's flagship
portal BizTech (http://biztech.nikkeibp.co.jp/). By interlocking with Nikkei BP's IT magazines including NIKKEI
PERSONAL COMPUTING and NIKKEI COMPUTER, and capitalizing on the "eGovernment" website and e-mail news service,
NIKKEI BP GOVERNMENT TECHNOLOGY will introduce case studies on IT implementations at local e-governments.
The biweekly e-mail news service is free of charge and is slated to become a weekly in October.
There is a growing need of information in the e-government market today. In Japan, Juki Net (Japan's online Basic Residential Registers Network System) will enter
its second phase and personal authentication service for public use will enter its full-fledged operation this year.
Amidst such circumstances, NIKKEI BP GOVERNMENT TECHNOLOGY will seize the best opportunity to become the number
one magazine in the e-government market by capitalizing on personal connections built with significant people in
the e-government market. Specifically, NIKKEI BP GOVERNMENT TECHNOLOGY will leverage on the network of key personnel
established to date by the NIKKEI PERSONAL COMPUTING magazine and by the organization of conferences including Japan-US
Local Government CIO Conference, held concurrently with the NET&COM event back in February this year.
