Automotive Executives to Gather at "2001 Tokyo International Automotive Conference"
Tokyo -- August 1, 2001 -- Nikkei Business, the flagship magazine of NikkeiBP, is to stage its first Tokyo International Automotive Conference on October 22 and 23, 2001, at Shin Takanawa Prince Hotel, Tokyo. The event will be held as Japan's first large-scale conference on automobile in association with U.S.-based Automotive News Group and Nihon Keizai Shimbun and under the auspices of Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association.
Big wheels of the auto industry from the world are scheduled to gather en masse at the conference to deliver speeches on management strategies and technology development of their respective companies. Such auto executives include: Nissan Motor President Carlos Ghosn; General Motors CEO Richard Wagoner; Honda Motor President & CEO Hiroyuki Yoshino; Toyota Motor President Fujio Cho; Mitsubishi Motors COO Rolf Eckrodt; Denso President & CEO Hiroshi Okabe; Delphi Automotive Systems President; Chairman and CEO J.T. Battenberg ; AB Volvo Senior Vice President Karl-Erling Trogen; and Ford Motor President & CEO Jacques Nasser (planned).
Embracing in its theme "Globalization and Localization in the 21st Century," Tokyo International Automotive Conference is aimed at contributing to the development of the automobile industry and protecting the global and local environment. The first day of the conference is to feature six focus sessions where seasoned business executives and specialists hold panel discussions, followed by a keynote dinner reception where Nissan Motor President Carlos Ghosn is to deliver a speech entitled "The Meeting Ground Between Global Management and Japanese-Style Management." The second day will feature eight keynote sessions where the world's prominent executives in the auto industry will deliver keynote speeches, three sessions on technological themes, and a roundup session in which closing of the conference will be addressed.
The seating capacity of the conference is 1,000. Registration fees are 70,000 yen for standard seats and 90,000 yen for premium seats that are located close to keynote speakers.
