Nikkei Electronics and PennWell to Hold
"Fiber Optics Forum 2001 in Tokyo"
Tokyo -- December 10, 2001 -- Nikkei Electronics, a must-read magazine for
electronics designers and managers in Japan, and U.S. publisher PennWell will
co-host the "Fiber Optics Forum 2001 in Tokyo" on December 13 and 14, 2001.
This forum will focus on the technological and market trends related to
opto-electronics, in view of the increasing significance of optical
communications technology in the broadband era.
Fiber Optics Forum 2001 in Tokyo has been developed through the joint
cooperation of Nikkei Electronics, PennWell's WDM Solutions magazine, KMI
and Strategies Unlimited (KMI and Strategies Unlimited are research divisions
of PennWell). Inviting prominent engineers from the U.S., the forum will
feature presentations on the hottest topics such as 40Gbit/sec optical
communications components and LSIs as well as competition in the chip
industry over development of optical switches. There will also be presentations
by U.S. analysts on future market trends from the perspective of the so-called
"optical food chain," i.e. from optical components to optical devices and optical
networking services. Detailed seminar programs are available at
http://dk.nikkeibp.co.jp/dk/seminar/011213e.html
A reception will be held in the evening of December 13 with the aim of offering
the forum attendees an opportunity to exchange their views with the forum
speakers. With booths to be set up by companies engaged in opto-electronics,
the reception will also enable the attendees to collect information on the latest
products and services.
Nikkei Electronics is published by Nikkei Business Publications. As a
biweekly title with the circulation of 42,432 (January-June 2001/Japan ABC),
the magazine covers the technological aspects of electronics, information and
communications.
