Tokyo - September 17, 2013 - Nikkei Business Publications (President & CEO: Kohei Osada; Tokyo) announced today to host the Multi-Device UX Competition 2014 for developing an appealing user experience (UX) using smart devices.
Succeeding the Multi-Screen UX Competition 2013 activities announced last year, the Multi-Device UX Competition 2014 is a contest targeting creators, planners, and developers based in Japan. The competition welcomes unique and innovative ideas for new kinds of UX and entertainment which leverage multiple devices including smartphones and tablets.
Sony Corporation (President & CEO: Kazuo Hirai; Tokyo) and Sony Mobile Communications (President & CEO: Kunimasa Suzuki; Tokyo) sponsor the competition. The awarded works will be offered exhibition space within the sponsor booth at the forthcoming trade fairs “2014 International CES” in Las Vegas, US (January 7-10, 2014) and “Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014” in Barcelona, Spain (February 24-27, 2014). The competition will also cover the travel expenses to the exhibition venues and accommodations during the events for a representative of each prize winner.
The first stage of competition welcomes entries of innovative ideas by October 9, 2013. The developers of excellent ideas selected from the entries will be provided with devices for materializing the idea into actual product for exhibition at the two trade fairs.
At the launch of the competition, Hiroaki Kobayashi, Senior General Manager, UX Marketing Strategy Division of Global Sales and Marketing Group at Sony Corporation, gave a following endorsement;
“The last year’s competition gave birth to a variety of unique applications for devices with multiple display screens, such as Xperia™ smartphone and Xperia ™ tablet, and created many new types of user experiences. The Multi-Device UX Competition 2014 this year does not limit entries for the use of devices with multi-screens. We target the ideas for apps used in combination with a variety of smart devices, and by doing so, we expect to encourage the creation of exciting and fresh user experiences in even broader range. We hope the competition will inspire many talented creators, and even more attractive user experiences will be born anew“.
